ASSE reconoce como especialidad a la práctica de la Ergonomía.

El Directorio de la Sociedad de Ingenieros de Seguridad de Norteamérica (American Society of Safety Engineers - ASSE) reconoce internamente una nueva práctica especializada, la Ergonomía.

Con ocasión de iniciar la celebración de su Año Centenario.

Ha comenzado la celebración del centenario de la Sociedad Americana de Ingenieros de Seguridad. ASSE cumplirá 100 años de edad el 14 de octubre de 2011, y su junta de directores de ASSE inició un período de un año de diversas actividades con su anual Congreso de liderazgo, incluyendo el reconocimiento como especialidad a la práctica de la ergonomía. 

"Recuerdo que hace unos años cuando yo era el administrador de la especialidad de la Construcción, sólo había alrededor de siete especialidades, o divisiones como se les llamaba," dijo el presidente de ASSE Darryl C. Hill, Ph.D., CSP, durante la reunión. "Ahora tenemos 17. Este es realmente un testimonio de que la profesión y ASSE están creciendo. También muestra que los miembros de la ASSE están muy comprometidos con aprender más y compartir información acerca de su profesión."

La Especialidad de Ergonomía se puso en marcha hace tres años como una rama de especialidad y ha crecido rápidamente. Ha organizado seis sesiones simultáneas en la conferencia anual de la sociedad.

Uno de los desafíos más importantes para la Región del Caribe es promover el desarrollo económico que asegure la sostenibilidad ambiental. El Caribe necesita conocer las iniciativas adelantadas con respecto a la gestión, procesos y procedimientos en las áreas de salud ambiental y salud ocupacional.

Queremos compartir los resultados y el impacto de esas iniciativas.
